PRACTICE

On any given day in the office, patients of all ages with the full spectrum of eye concerns are seen. Glaucoma is a common eye disease for which huge strides have been made in treatment. Multiple medications have been replaced by single dosages for many patients, and laser procedures have been refined which can delay or even prevent the need for surgery when drops fail.

Our practice is an active practice and we make every effort to be efficient and still provide the care that each patient requires. Dr. Hughes attends national meetings all over the country to stay abreast of current ophthalmologic information and techniques. “I have had a wonderful professors and mentor surgeons from the first days of my residency and all through the past 20 years as I have added new procedures and refined techniques. I have also enjoyed mentoring other surgeons as they acquire new skills. My office personnel are outstanding. They are absolutely committed to our patients and to assisting me in every way they can so that we can deliver state-of-the-art eye care. I am committed to my practice and I love what I do”.

Our office hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday, Thursday and Friday. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are surgery days with half-days for office appointments. Once you are established as our patient, we provide 24-hour coverage for ophthalmologic problems. Dr. Hughes takes her own calls during the week, and is in a call group of fellow ophthalmic surgeons who trade weekend coverage.

Our practice maintains active collaboration with all ophthalmic subspecialty areas making referral when necessary efficiently and timely. This allows Dr. Hughes to be in solo practice with all of its advantages and still have the benefits of group practice.

According to Dr. Hughes, one of the joys of an ophthalmology practice is that there is a lifelong relationship with the patients. People require eye examinations on a regular basis as well as medical and surgical intervention. "My goal is top provide the highest level of ophthalmologic care to each of my patients, from those needing routine care to each of my patients, from those needing routine care to those requiring complex medical and surgical ophthalmologic expertise. We strive to accomplish this in a private practice setting that retains a traditional philosophy of individualized care and personal attention." We are pleased to have you in our practice."
